Answer
The sins of the human race caused the Lord Jesus Christ to die on the cross. But, what does the death of the Lord Jesus Christ expects from the life of his people? "Rom 5:8.God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 1 Cor 15:3 … Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;" These are widely preached among Christians. They say since Christ died for our sins, the blood of Jesus Christ cancels our sins and so Christians, who believe Jesus, will go to heaven in spite of sinning. But, the Bible does not say what they say. Let us look in to the Bible.
"Rom 8:31 ... If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Most preachers say that God gives all things freely to us beginning with the blood of Jesus Christ and he requires nothing from us. But the Bible says that the blood of Jesus Christ is the most precious thing and it must be respected as such. Just because it is freely given if we treat it as an unholy thing: that is, as a cheap thing, the wrath of God will be upon us. "Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." If the blood of Jesus Christ has sanctified us and if we continue to sin in spite of the grace given to us, we will fall into the hands of the living God for his vengeance.
"2 Cor 5:14 ... the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again." The love of Jesus Christ makes us to think that we all died to self since Jesus Christ died for us and we all will live the life of Jesus Christ who died for us. Jesus Christ did not sin and so, those who live his life also should not sin. "1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. ... 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
"1 Pet 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness..." The Lord Jesus Christ died for us on the cross so that we should live in the righteousness of God that is without sin.
God has sent Jesus Christ to die for us so that we may live according to the righteousness of the law. "Rom 8:3... God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us ...." But, Christians generally think that he died so that we may go to heaven, even though we are sinning. However, it is not the purpose of the cross of Jesus Christ. It is that we should live a righteous life.
God bought us with the price of the blood of Jesus Christ and demands that we glorify him with our body and spirit. "1 Cor 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Sin does not glorify God, but living like Jesus lived glorifies God.
Jesus Christ forgives and says sin no more. "John 5:14 Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins to deliver us from the sinful world and to make us to live according to the will of God the Father, but not to live in sin. "Gal 1:3 ... our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:"
Jesus Christ gave himself for us so that he may sanctify us (make us righteous persons) by cleaning us with his word as water cleans the dirt so that we may be holy. "Eph 5:25 ... Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 ... that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
Jesus Christ died on the cross to present us holy, unblamable and unreproveable. "Col 1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"
Jesus Christ died for us to redeem us from sins and to purify us for him. "Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Jesus Christ converts us to be a peculiar people to do good works of righteousness. That is, if we are not redeemed from all iniquity, he has not given himself for us.
The blood of Jesus Christ will purge our conscience not to sin but to serve the living God. "Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ ... purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" Dead works are works of sin that lead to eternal death.
The Lord Jesus Christ shed his blood and died not only to forgive our past sins but also to make us perfect to do the will of God the Father. "Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past ... Heb 13:20 ... our Lord Jesus ... through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ ..." The resurrected Jesus Christ is working in you turning you away from sins and to walk in the path of righteousness. "Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. Eph 2:10 we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Jesus Christ died for us in order to make us the righteousness of God. Sinning people are not the righteousness of God. "2 Cor 5:21 ... he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
"1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." It is true that the blood of Jesus Christ his Son will clean us from all sins, but not until we walk in light as he is in light. Light is to be holy and darkness is to commit sin. That is, unless we stop to commit sin, God will not forgive our past sins.
Yet, Satan and his servants preach that if we try not to sin, we make the cross of Christ void. Then again they say that why Christ should die if we do not continue to sin, implying that we must continue to sin. It is a cheap trick of the devil, but he is catching many unstable people with this trick.
Satan is deceptive. So we must be alert. We can overcome Satan, flesh, and the world by the grace, power, and presence of God. "James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." Resist the devil and draw close to God. God will be with you.
If we love God with reverential fear, we will obey God - We will stop sinning.
the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
