I believe in Jesus and so I am saved

Answer

God became a man, Jesus of Nazareth, and gave himself on the cross as the Lamb of God for the sins of the world. "John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." But the world is not saved. "1John 5:19 ... we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness." Christians think that they are saved from hell and will inherit heaven just because Jesus has died for them and will take them to heaven. But this belief is nothing but vain. God is not impressed with ignorant belief.

If we truly believe Jesus Christ, we will believe what he tells us and we will do what he requires us to do. "John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." It is false and empty belief if we believe that he will do what we want him to do just because we believe that he will do it. Remember, he is holy and righteous God, who created us and we must obey him. We did not create him and he is not our faithful servant.

We think that the gospel of Jesus Christ is taught everywhere. However, Christians teach many doctrines as the gospel of Jesus Christ and most of them are verses pulled out of its context. Jesus Christ is the author of eternal salvation and save only his people, who obey him "Matt 1:21 ... his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;" The gospel is the good news and it must be obeyed since it is the commandments of Jesus Christ. Those who do not obey him will not be saved. Learning his life, praising him with words of exaltation in worship, etc should not replace the obedience to his commandments. God will not give the reward, which is intended for obedience, to a person who does not obey God. Further, God will punish those, who do not obey the gospel of Jesus Christ, with flaming fire. "2 Thess 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:"

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news as well as the commandments of God. It was first preached by the Lord Jesus Christ and by his apostles. During the past two thousand years, the gospel has gone through several changes and what we now know as the gospel is not the gospel that was preached by the Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles. Here is an example: "Acts 16:30 ... Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. Matt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you ..." The apostles said to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and preached whatever the Lord commanded them so that they may obey his commandments. But our pastors and evangelists say: believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means: we just believe that Jesus Christ will take us to heaven no matter what we do. These people preach false gospel. Instead of preaching what Jesus has preached for salvation, they preach a standard lie and most members of the churches believe it.

Jesus Christ has started to preach the gospel that is the eternal good news. "Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; John 6:68 … Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." The Lord Jesus Christ told the Jews to keep the Ten Commandments and his followers to keep his commandments for eternal salvation. "Matt 19:16... Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17… if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Matt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." God will take vengeance if we do not obey his commandments. "2 Thes 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction ..."

God has done what he has to do for our salvation. Now, Jesus Christ says that it is up to us whether to receive the reward in hell or in heaven. Jesus Christ calls us blessed if we do his commandments. "Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12 ..., I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." It is a sound advice that we listen to the Lord Jesus Christ and obey his commandments.

If we love God with reverential fear, we will obey God - We will stop sinning.
