"Matt 1:21 … JESUS: … shall save his people from their sins." Christians knows verses like this, but they are interpreted as Jesus Christ saves Christians from the punishment for sins. So, instead of hell, they think they go to heaven. It is a good deal if it is true.
God told Adam that he will surely die, if he eats of the tree that is, if he will disobey God that is, if he will commit sin. "Gen 2:17 … thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Satan told that they will not surely die. "Gen 3:4 … Ye shall not surely die:" Adam and Eve believed Satan more than God and were eternally dead as they were physically living. Now, Christians do the same. They believe preachers more than they believe God and are eternally dead.
God tells believers to separate themselves from sin and sinners in order to be accepted as his people and also as his sons and daughters. "2 Cor 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." Ephesians believers did exactly what was expected of them that is they have separated themselves from sin and sinners. So, they became his people and God saved them. "Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)" God will also live with his people. "Rev 21:3 … he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."
Saved from our sins is not to be saved from the punishment for sins, but to be saved from sins itself. "Ezek 18:4 the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Jas 5:20 he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins." So many such verses from the Bible say that unless a sinner is converted from his evil ways he will face eternal death. Sin is disobeying God.
"Matt 1:21 … his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 1 John 3:5 he was manifested to take away our sins." Jesus Christ saves his people from their sins that is takes away their sins. Either case Jesus Christ separates sins from his people. Any sin is disobeying God. So, Jesus converts a repented sinner into an obedient person.
The Lord Jesus Christ himself appeared as grace of God teaching us the doctrine of God for us to obey. "Titus 2:10... they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;" As we obey his doctrines, he delivers us from the addiction of sin. "Rom 6:17 ... God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you."
"1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." We have to admit the fact that we are all born with the nature to sin and we have sinned. This does not mean that we have to say that we have sinned even though we have not sinned. "Matt 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Repent is to change our mind from the things of the world, of the flesh and of the devil, and turn it toward the kingdom of heaven. "1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." If God clean all unrighteousness, then we will not be unrighteous and there will be no sin in us. "Pro 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." Repent for sins, confess it to God, forsake the sins, and walk in the light as God is in the light. Then, God will forgive our past sins. "Rom 3:25 God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past." Most preachers teach that Jesus Christ cleanses all our sins, past, present and future sins, by his blood. It is a subtle deceptive teaching of Satan. Total forgiveness is none other than giving license to commit sins. If we live with no future sins by his grace then God forgives the past sins.
Most Christians considers salvation as an escape from hell and entry to heaven in spite of their sin. However, the Lord Jesus Christ says, "John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin." Apostle Paul says, "Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Apostle Peter says, "2 Peter 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage." Apostle John says,"1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning." Whoever commit sin is a sinner and the sin will bring him to eternal death. "James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." There is no such a thing that you obtain heaven as long as you commit sin.
Many Christians are taught to say that they are saved. They call it as faith. If they say they are saved when they are not saved, it is not faith but it is a lie. Believing and telling a lie will not save them from hell.
Christians love the Lord Jesus Christ and they sing the song "Oh how I love Jesus" from the bottom of their hearts and the top of their voice. But, they will not do the things Jesus Christ asks them to do. They listen to a preacher than to the words that Jesus Christ has preached. Jesus Christ tells them to stop singing and start obeying. "John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments." If you love Jesus Christ with all your heart, strength, soul and spirit, then obey him with all of you. "Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you." If you obey him, he will deliver you from sin that makes you overcome the flesh, world and Satan. "Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."
If we love God with reverential fear, we will obey God - We will stop sinning.
